Description:
The large painting, currently exhibited in the Council Chamber of Grosseto, is dated 1939.
It depicts the moment of rest of the countryside people and encapsulates the painter's commitment to narrating social themes, such as those related to the civil struggles of the laborers.
The artwork was presented in Grosseto during a retrospective at the newly inaugurated gallery named after Pascucci himself, in 1958. In 1961, it was purchased by the Municipality of Grosseto from its then owner, Firmina Garbati di Manciano, for 500,000 lire.
