Forniture from the Luzzetti Collection

Date

16th - 17th century

Description:

All the precious pieces of furniture in the collection belong to the Tuscan school and can be dated between the 16th and 17th centuries, the transitional period between the Renaissance and the advent of the Baroque.

Each object was selected by Gianfranco Luzzetti for its important artistic and decorative value.

The 17th-century pair of panchettoni, now placed in the frame of the Bigi Church, is perhaps the most valuable item in the collection.

Next to it take their place precious 16th-century torches made of carved and gilded wood, which were used in aristocratic residences with the function of lighting for interior rooms.

Renaissance forms can also be discerned in the two seventeenth-century high chairs: this is a type of seat that was widespread in aristocratic and grand ducal residences.

All the furnishing elements were inserted in a harmonious and constant dialogue with the works of art within the museum itinerary, becoming an integral part of the antiquarian idea behind the Luzzetti donation.
