Description:
The canvas illustrates an Old Testament episode relating to the idolatry of Solomon who, influenced by his many wives, is directed toward the veneration of pagan gods.
The painting in the Luzzetti collection is likely the sketch for another canvas entitled Biblical Scene, which shows the same compositional features but with some stylistic and pictorial variations.
In the canvas we see several female figures from King Solomon's court with the characteristic tiny, pointed profiles and animated gestures typical of Dandini's work.
